Case Submission Regulations

With the submission of a case, the first author (presenting author): 

  • Accepts responsibility for the accuracy of the submitted case.
  • Confirms that all authors are aware of and agree to the content of the case and support the data presented.
  • Identifies any financial interest in products or processes described in the case. This information is to be forwarded to the Scientific Committee together with the case.
  • States that, for studies involving human or animal subjects, permission has been obtained from the relevant regulatory authority and properly informed consent given where appropriate.
  • Gives permission for the case, when selected for oral presentation to be published. 
  • Encore cases will be accepted.
  • Submitted cases cannot withdraw after the official submission deadline.

Case Format

In order to be considered, the case submission should respect the following guidelines:

  • The case must be submitted in good English.
  • If the case is submitted by a resident, the name of the supervising attending physician must be specified.
  • Case description highlighting its unique features, including a diagnostic and/or therapeutic dilemma, limited to a maximum of 350 words.
  • During the presentation, five multiple-choice questions should be incorporated for live audience voting throughout the case discussion. The inclusion of images and/or videos is highly recommended. 
  • The Scientific Committee reserves the right to reject cases, which are presented in poor English, or may request an immediate revision by the presenter.
  • Case titles should be brief and should reflect the content of the case.
  • Commercial names may not be used in the case title.
  • No more than 10 authors can be listed.  Only institutional affiliations, cities and countries should follow.
  • The decision regarding inclusion in the program and type of presentation will be decided by the Scientific Program Committee.
  • The online case submission procedure will not accept abstracts that exceed 350 words.
  • Abbreviations may be used if standard or if spelled out and defined at the first use. Compounds should be mentioned with the generic name, in lower cases. Commercial names are admitted in the text, with an ®, and if in brackets following the generic name, i.e. “generic (Commercial ®)”.
  • Figures or photographs are allowed. Symbols and structures of drugs are allowed and should be drawn in black.
  • Only the submitting author will receive a confirmation/case submission number by e-mail from the IHS2026 Secretariat within 48 hours of submission. This confirmation of case submission receipt is NOT a notice of acceptance.

Case Selection Process

  • Only cases submitted online can be accepted. Cases submitted on paper or by e-mail attachment will not be considered.
  • The Scientific Committee will make the selection of cases for oral presentations in March 2026 and notifications will be sent in April 2026.
  • If a selected author cannot attend, the presenting author should assign a replacement.
  • The following presentation formats are applicable for IHS2026: Oral presentation.
  • The Scientific Committee will determine whether abstracts will be accepted based on blind review. They will endeavor to schedule abstracts according to authors' preferences but reserve the right to decide on the final form of presentation.
  • If you do not receive any confirmation within 48 hours, please contact the Conference Secretariat within one week following the submission of the abstract.
  • Submitting a case for IHS2026 does not constitute registration for the meeting. All case submitters must complete their registration and payment to the IHS2026 meeting by April 16, 2026, in order to be considered as part of the scientific program.
